julie MaloofAs I entered the world of Bat and Bar Mitzvahs in the suburbs of New Jersey, I took in a lot more than the joy and excitement of celebrating with my friends as they turned 13.  I began to recognize everyone’s developing styles as they picked out their party themes, dresses, and, of course, their invitations- the first peek into the one party that celebrated their entrance into the adulthood.

The thrill of creating an invitation was overwhelming, as I saw it as my first opportunity in life to share my developing sense of style with my entire world of family and friends.  Therefore, when it was my turn in the Bat Mitzvah loop, I passed on the typical routine of picking out an invitation from an overflowing Bat Mitzvah book and, instead, customized a wedding invitation that represented my theme and, more importantly, offered a little peek into “me”.  There it was, my first customized invitation and the premise behind Julie Maloof Designs.

Following the Bat and Bar Mitzvahs years, I continued my interest in design by becoming Editor-in-Chief of the Livingston High School yearbook.  I furthered my education at the University of Michigan where I studied graphic design.  Then, as I began interviewing for my first job in New York City, I stumbled upon a small, custom design invitation firm that was an immediate fit.  At 21, I was doing what I loved to do at the early age of 13.

Julie Maloof Designs brings a customized touch to every Bat and Bar Mitzvah invitation, setting the stage for the feel, design and theme of each party.  We sit down with each customer to understand their unique look and, together, create an invitation that starts the party off in the right direction.
